The mission of the Sarasota County
Facilities Service team is to
oversee
long-range planning, space planning, construction, maintenance
and repairs of public buildings and grounds, as well as energy
and water usage in public facilities.
Facilities Construction is a support organization, being one of
three branches within the Facilities Services Organization.
Their mission is to deliver effective "sustainable" building
solutions to all of our customers in Sarasota.
Here is information about a few of
our completed projects:
-
Jacaranda
Library Addition
The addition
to the Jacaranda Library added 12,500 square feet to the
existing library bringing the total square footage to
25,000sq. ft.
-
North Port Library Addition
Facilities Construction oversaw the North Port Library
project, adding a 12,500 sq. ft. addition to the existing
Library building. SMRT was the architect for this project.
-
North Sarasota Library
Located on the corner of Newtown Boulevard and Dr. Martin
Luther King Way, the North Sarasota Library site was ideal
because of many factors, including the proximity to the Emma
Booker Elementary School and within walking distance from
the Booker Middle School. This new facility was built to a
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver
designation, which set a new standard for libraries in the
county.
-
Twin Lakes Park Expansion/Renovation
The Twin Lakes Project was the County’s first Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building.
Phase I, of this project is the new building, this building
is the new home for the Cooperative Extension Services.
