Tuscano Park Site
2391 Taylor Ranch Trail, Venice

The park site is located in Venice, (at the intersection of Taylor Ranch Trail and Tamiami Trail) and is adjacent to Taylor Ranch Elementary School. The site is approximately 11.6 acres and is surrounded by several large church properties to the west, south and south. The residential community of Plantation is located to the north across Tamiami Trail.

The property was dedicated to Sarasota County in 2007 under the condition the land would be developed as a public park. Several public meetings were held in 2008 to seek input regarding the possibility of developing a future “mega playground.” Due to insufficient funds, the original plan of a mega playground has been delayed. However, the county would like to provide public access and park amenities to the site.

Amenities

  • playground equipment
  • picnic areas
  • nature trail
  • parking area (four to five cars)

A public meeting was held on Aug. 9, 2011 at Woodmere Park to share these proposed short term improvements. The ideas were supported and additional suggestions were made for future long term improvements to the site.
