County seeks concession services for Siesta Public Beach

(11/17/08) Sarasota County Parks and Recreation is accepting proposals for concession services at Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road, Siesta Key. The selected concessionaire will operate the concession facility including the main pavilion, the south facility, ice cream shop and gift shop at the beach. 

Prospective concessionaires should include in their proposal a compensation plan, project approach, qualifications, experience and financial reports. The concession service for the location will begin in June 2009. 

The deadline for submitting proposals is Dec. 18.

"This is an opportunity to provide a service to the community at one of the best beaches in the nation," said Kristin Steffen, revenue specialist for Sarasota County Community Services. Siesta Public Beach is one of the top rated beaches in the country with more than 2 million visitors per year. The county will negotiate an agreement with the selected vendor for the location, which will then be subject to approval by the Sarasota County Commission.

Sarasota County seeks catering services

(11/13/08) Sarasota County is soliciting proposals from qualified parties to provide catering services at the Venice Community Center and Phillippi Estate Park.

Proposals for catering services can be submitted for either one or both county facilities. There is no anticipated limit on the number of firms selected and none will have exclusive rights. The Edson Keith Mansion at Phillippi Estate Park has no cooking facilities so food will need to be prepared at another location. Additionally, there is limited refrigeration capacity. The Venice Community Center has an extensive commercial kitchen which lends itself to the complete preparation of catered events. 

County staff will evaluate proposals using the following criteria listed in descending order of importance: qualifications and experience, business approach including fee percentage (minimum of 15 percent) to the county, references and any optional information provided by the proposer.
