Mobile health services offered at 15 county sites
and two back-to-school events in August
The Sarasota County Health Department’s Health In Motion Mobile
Medical Unit staff will travel to 15 sites and participate in
two back-to-school events in Sarasota County during August.
Regular services include diabetes education and screening, blood
pressure tests, pregnancy testing, HIV and tuberculosis testing,
adult immunizations and health education. The staff also assists
in finding a medical home for ongoing health care services for
anyone who lacks medical insurance and does not have a health
care provider.
In addition to the regular services, children’s immunizations
will be available on Wednesday, Aug. 4 and 25, from 9:30
a.m.-noon at the Grande Court Apartments at North Port, 5203
Greenwood Ave., North Port.
The mobile unit staff will provide height/weight and body mass
index (BMI) screening, blood pressure and blood sugar checks,
and HIV testing at the Ready, Set, Grow! Infant to Kindergarten
Family Fair on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the
Westfield Sarasota Square Mall at U.S. 41 (S. Tamiami Trail) and
Beneva Road, Sarasota.
Staff also will participate in the North Port Back-to-School
Resource Fair on Saturday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at
Heron Creek Middle School, 6501 West Price Boulevard, North
Port. Vision screening, height/weight and blood pressure checks
will be available at that location.
No appointment is needed. Some services are free, including HIV
rapid testing with results in 20 minutes. Other services offered
at other locations are on a sliding fee scale based on income.
