Utilities
Irrigation
Many of our customers use county water for lawn irrigation. Utilities recommends a number of tips to help you get the most efficient use of your system.

Utilities recommends the following tips to help you get the most efficient use of your irrigation system:

  • learn how your system works
  • learn how to turn it off
  • learn how to operate the clock
  • learn how to operate it both manually and automatically

Systems vary, so please refer to your operator's guide. Sarasota County Ordinance No. 2006-053 requires all automatic lawn sprinkler systems to have an automatic rain sensor device or switch installed and in operating order. Failure to have a functional automatic rain sensor device or switch is enforceable by Sarasota County code enforcement officers and can result in a civil penalty of up to $500.
