Florida businesses dealing with more
than 600 tons per year of recovered
materials (paper, glass, plastic,
metals/aluminum, textiles and/or
non-tire rubber) as "Recovered Material
Dealers" are required by law to apply
for annual certification and report
their recovered materials. This
requirement is stated in
Florida Statute 403.7065
and detailed in
Florida Administrative Code Rule 62-722.
Recovered Materials Dealers are also
required to send quarterly reports to
County Recycling Officials.
Recovered Material Dealers who process
materials originating in Sarasota
County, quarterly reports should submit
reports to:
Recycling Program Coordinator
2817 Cattlemen Road
Sarasota, FL 34232
The goal of this program is to record
the amount of Florida's waste stream
that is reused or recycled and properly
credit each county for its recovered
materials. To do this with accuracy, it
is important for recyclers to report all
recovered materials in tons by county of
origin.
If the recycling business you
send your material to is not on this
list, and the total of recovered
materials originating in Sarasota County
that your business handles is more than
600 tons, contact the Sarasota
County Recycling Program at 941-861-5000
to determine if you are required to
submit a quarterly report.
If you have questions about this
program's requirements, contact
Suzanne Boroff at 850-245-8726.
