The 774-acre site in the
northeastern part of the county contains significant scrub,
wetlands and pine flatwoods of relatively good quality. It is
also adjacent to the city of Sarasota’s well fields, a portion
of which is within the site.
Importance
The site would function as a buffer to the 650-acre city well
field area. The site includes scrub and pine flatwoods
communities. Adding acreage to that area would help support
scrub-dependent species, such as the Florida scrub-jay and
gopher tortoise.
Status
No properties have been protected within this site.
