September
2007- November 2007
- In mid-September breakwater
rock placement begins. A barge transports rocks from
the staging area to the islands where another barge with a
crane places the rocks.
- Relocation of existing
seagrass to a protected area will be done as the breakwater
is constructed.
- For the safety of boaters
and construction workers, a temporary "no-wake" zone is in
effect in the Intracoastal Waterway near the project site
area.
- The no-wake zone will be
monitored by marine law enforcement and will remain in force
throughout construction.
December 2007
- When the breakwater is
built, mangroves and marsh grass will be planted between the
islands and the structure.
- Project is expected to be complete
by the end of December.
Please stay away from
the
construction area.
