Natural Resources oversees permitting and licensing for the excavation, filling and stockpiling of soil. It also reviews and issues tree protection permits for the regulation of tree removal during development and construction activities.

The program also monitors any potential impact resulting from groundwater withdrawal from the Intermediate and Florida aquifers for potable water for Sarasota County residents.
