 Sarasota County is home to some of
the most in demand beaches, recreation trails and natural parks.
With more than 200 parks, 109 athletic fields, miles of pristine
beaches and more than 2000 acres of open space parkland Sarasota
County Parks and Recreation offers something for everyone!
As of Oct. 1, 2007 operating hours for several Sarasota County
Parks and Recreation facilities including Recreation and
Community Centers have changed. The change in hours comes as a
result of an $877,000 budget reduction for Parks and Recreation
due to the state legislature’s passage of property tax reforms.
Those measures required county government to roll back property
tax rates to 2006-2007 levels.
In adjusting our operations, we relied on a variety of
customer-use data and public feedback that told us the busiest
times for Recreation and Community Centers and the services most
in demand. That data enabled us to identify the busiest hours of
operation between facilities and make adjustments that will have
the least amount of impact.
Virtually all of our facilities remain available on-demand for
private functions and events. We invite you to explore all that
