Tangible personal property owned by Sarasota County Government that is obsolete or no longer serves a useful function is declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners and is donated to eligible local charitable organizations.

Property not accepted by those organizations is sold at public auction through the property control warehouse or at Tampa Machinery Auction to the highest bidder. Specialty equipment can also be made available by requesting bids and use of an online auction Web site.
