 Through the annual Sarasota County Citizens Opinion Survey, the
public informs county officials about their policy preferences
and grades the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of county
officials’ performance. County officials, in turn, use the
results to make key decisions, measure progress, plan future
steps, and improve service delivery.
Citizen Opinion Survey 2006 is the fifteenth annual survey
conducted by Sarasota County. The county began its annual
surveys in 1992. Today, local governments across the U.S.
regularly rely on such surveys. As noted by the International
City/County Management Association: “Strong management demands a
credible feedback system.”
